The Beauty Spot: Welcome, Shaunelius! Thank you so much for sitting down with us today. We are so excited to be here with the woman behind one of the most beautiful new spaces on the internet. So let's start right at the beginning — what inspired you to create The Beauty Spot?

Shaunelius: I have always wanted to create a space for women to go and feel beautiful. Beauty is one of my passions, and I feel that every woman should have a place just for them to go and unwind and feel beautiful, no matter what kind of day she has had. Little girls grow up feeling like they are not beautiful, especially if their heart has been broken, or they have been called hateful names to make them feel unattractive. I have experienced this in my life long ago, so this is why I never want any little girl who has grown into a beautiful woman to feel unattractive again. This is why I created The Beauty Spot. Beauty is not just about what we look like on the outside — it is about what is on the inside, because that is where beauty starts.

The Beauty Spot: What does beauty mean to you personally?

Shaunelius: What beauty means to me personally is feeling beautiful just being who I am. It is not about clothes, although they do play a big role in feeling beautiful on the outside, but personally it is just being very comfortable in my own skin and embracing who I am as a person. Sometimes I see myself through someone else's eyes when I look at beauty magazines, or when I am reading a blog post that I have written, or reading a blog post someone else has written. Beauty can be found in words because language is universal, and someone just may say something that resonates with you and what you feel about the same subject.

The Beauty Spot: Who is The Beauty Spot for? When you picture the woman sitting down to read your blog, who do you see?

Shaunelius: To be completely honest, I see myself. I see a woman who wants to accept herself but she does not know how, because of how she has been made to feel about herself all of her life. I see a woman who needs to find her self-worth, and I see a woman who wears her heart on her sleeve, but at the same time cares deeply to find out about her own beauty. I see a woman who has struggled with accepting herself as who she is. She sees flaws about herself that she cannot change because they are a part of her and they make her who she is — but that is what makes her beautiful. We all have flaws and imperfections, but we are still created beautiful even if we are perfectly imperfect. We were not created to be perfect. We were created to be different, even in our beauty.

The Beauty Spot: What do you want every woman to feel when she leaves The Beauty Spot after reading a post? What do you want her to carry with her when she closes the page?

Shaunelius: I want every woman to feel beautiful, like the queen she is. I want her to carry sophistication, beauty, love, joy, laughter, and peace.

The Beauty Spot: And finally — what is one beauty truth you wish every woman in the world knew? Something you want them to never forget?

Shaunelius: I want every woman in the world to know that she matters. I want her to know that she was born beautiful. She is fearfully and wonderfully made. She is loved, special, and there is no one like her. No one has her fingerprints. She is one of a kind, and she is unique — she is her beautiful self.
